Sunflower Seed Dressing
I am so thrilled to make my first recipe post! This one is extra special to me because it takes me back to Greenville, MS in the early 90’s. There was a cute little restaurant called the Shelton House. They served the most wonderful salad dressing. I have never tasted anything like it. Salty, Sour and sweet all into one. As a 7 year old, salad was never my first choice, but this dressing changed the game for me! You won’t find many dressing like this out there, and I am happy to share it with you.

Sunflower Seed Dressing
This recipe makes about 2 Quarts, so half the recipe is that is too large!
Ingredients
- 5 cups Vegatable oil
- 1 cup honey
- 2 cups white vinegar
- 4 oz raw unsalted sunflower seeds
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 tbsp white pepper
- 5 tbsp granulated garlic
- 3 tbsp salt
- 1/2 cup fresh chopped chives
Instructions
- Mix all the ingredients together in no certain order. Shake as hard as you can or use a mixer if you'd prefer. Keep Refrigerated. Shake well before serving. I like to use a spoon while placing on salad.
Notes
This recipe is very nostalgic to me. It takes me back to the Shelton House in Greenville, MS. The Perfect combination of salty, sour and sweet.I love to gift this dressing. This recipe makes about 2 Quarts, so half the recipe is that is too large!

How long does this dressing last before you need to toss?

Hi Allison!
It depends on how you store the dressing. If its sealed with a tight lid then 1-3 months tops. I use glass jars. Since it is vinegar based it will last longer than most dressing using dairy! Let me know what you think!
